Les Chalets du Thabor sont idéalement situés aux pieds des pistes et à 100 mètres du coeur de la station de Valfréjus. Vous partirez "skis aux pieds" pour rejoindre le départ de la télécabine de Punta Bagna. Vanoise National Park

From Modane, the most direct access by vehicle to the National Park is via the Vallon Polset and the Plateau de l'Orgère at the foot of the Chavière glaciers, following the route départementale 215 from the villages of Le Freney and St André. Pedestrians can access the National Park via the footpath at Modane to Replaton, then le Sapey.

Fascinating destinations

The sloping house

This former bunker was bombed by the Germans on the 16th September 1944, using
dynamite, on Modane's liberation day. This ruin is popular with visitors due to the sensation
of imbalance experienced when you go inside.

The St Jacques chapel at Loutraz

Built circa 1830, this charming chapel was the social centre of the local area for over a
century.

Modane Ville's fountain

Dating back to 1572, the fountain is probably Modane's most ancient monument. It is
classified as a historical monument and forms the nucleus of historical Modane.

The Replaton Fort

The Replaton Fort is part of the chain of fortifications spread out over the heights of Modane. It has since been acquired by the Association du Musée de la Traversée des Alpes in view of restoration. It is a popular destination for ramblers thanks to the stunning panoramas it has to offer over the Modane-Fourneaux agglomeration.

Cable car

Head off on an exciting discovery of the Alpine mountainside up to 2200m altitude !

The cable car is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 1.30 p.m.
to 4 p.m. It is sometimes possible to go as high as 2737m (Punta Bagna), depending on the weather conditions.

Day ticket 10€ (unlimited use)

The 8-place cable cars take visitors to the Plateau d'Arrondaz at 2200m altitude, treating
them to a spectacular panoramic view over the Vanoise National Park opposite. Visitors can then ramble around the plateau (a map is available at the tourist office) and then return down the mountain by cable car (last descent is at 4 p.m.)

It is also possible to return to the resort by footpath. The Plateau d'Arrondaz is an ideal starting point for a day-long hike, linking up to the Arrondaz mountain pass, the Jeu slope and finally back to the resort.

For those with energy to burn, it is also possible to take up mountain bikes to experience a
literally breathtaking descent!

Via Ferrata at Valfréjus. Introduction to rock-climbing or improvement with an instructor.

Via Ferrata noun. : “permanent way” in Italian. A Via Ferrata is an equipped and secured
route on the rock face. The equipment stays in place permanently. It is divided into two
categories :
Ladders, steps (iron or cut into the stone), wooden bridges, and footbridges to help facilitate progression.
A cable, known as the “life line”, to which we attach our equipment in permanence, keeping us close to the rock face and therefore in safety.
