Family watering at Le Charmaix
The most accessible cool spot for children is the new Espace aqualudique du Charmaix. Just a stone's throw from the resort, in a forested area on the banks of the Charmaix stream, a 600m² play area has been designed for family fun. Enjoy the shade of the fir trees, dip your feet in the stream, splash around... and make the most of the barbecues.
Via ferrata in cool mode
Valfréjus is the perfect place to combine activity and fresh air. Accompanied by a mountain professional, discover the Grand Vallon via ferrata and its wild environment. The eponymous stream below adds a touch of freshness. You'll discover a spectacular waterfall and a shady gorge. After your via ferrata, extend your day in this area: a little further up, past the hamlet of Seuil, you can cool off and dip your feet in the stream, and why not take a well-deserved siesta in the shade of the fir trees. Isn't that what vacations are all about?
A night under the comforter in the middle of a heatwave
For a unique but worthwhile experience, head for the Refuge du Thabor above Valfréjus. Leave your flip-flops behind and put on your hiking boots, because you're going to have to do some walking! But it's well worth the effort, as you'll be dazzled by the wild beauty of the site. Just above the refuge, at the foot of Mont-Thabor and Cheval Blanc, the two Sainte-Marguerite lakes (Lac Rond and Lac Long) reflect a grandiose natural setting and invite the bravest to take a dip - but be warned, here you are at 2,510m altitude and the water isn't as warm as in the Mediterranean! At the height of summer, you can take a dip in one of these high-altitude lakes. You can also spend the night up there (remember to book your overnight stay at the refuge) in the refuge or in bivouac mode. At this altitude, even if it's hot in the valley, a comforter is a must.
