Boarderline - Prevention workshop - Deciding in the mountains
This workshop offers an introduction to the analysis of mountain conditions using the 3 × 3 method, a widely-used decision-making tool for all snow conditions.
Description
Participants will learn to analyze three essential factors: weather and snow conditions, terrain and human factors (technical level, fatigue, group management, objectives of the outing).
This analysis is carried out at three key moments during the outing: during preparation at home, at the start of the route and throughout the progression, in order to constantly re-evaluate conditions and adapt decisions.
The workshop will introduce you to the tools needed for this analysis: reading meteograms, understanding the Bulletin d'Estimation du Risque d'Avalanche (BERA), using the 1:25,000 IGN map, compass orientation and navigation applications such as Iphigénie.
