Top 5 summer activities

What to do in summer at Valfréjus ? Fun and sporting activities with friends, hiking up to 3000 meters, discovering the great outdoors, via ferrata... not forgetting to relax (it's the vacations!). Our Top 5 activities at Valfréjus.

Hiking up to 3000m at Mont Thabor

Above Valfréjus, Mont Thabor offers a summit at over 3000 meters accessible to all in summer. The hike starts directly from the heart of the resort or from Le Lavoir (carriage road from the resort to Le Lavoir). Then it's off on a long hike up to Le Thabor. We start by taking the GR5 towards the Southern Alps, skirting Italy, discovering high-altitude lakes, mountain pastures, geological curiosities... then climbing to the summit where the mineral landscape becomes lunar. The summit offers exceptional views of prestigious peaks: Grandes Jorasses, Matterhorn, Grande Casse, Mont Viso...
Please note: although the hike is not particularly difficult in summer (snow is still present until mid-July, so check conditions before setting off), it is quite long (allow a full day for the return trip). The easiest way to complete this two-day hike is to spend the night at the Thabor refuge.

Mount Tabor
Take on the via ferrata of the Grand Vallon at Valfréjus

Go for the via ferrata of the Grand Vallon

Ever heard of via-ferrata? A sport that makes climbing accessible to all. Equipped with a harness, helmet and lanyard, you are constantly attached to a cable that winds its way along the walls. You can then climb up rungs, ladders, footbridges and Nepalese bridges. The via ferrata at Grand Vallon, above the resort, is a real thrill. The route takes you through the gorges of the torrent, where you can get close to a beautiful waterfall. If you're prone to vertigo, you'd be better off simply observing the climbers from a footbridge overlooking the via-ferrata. For everyone else, this is a must-do activity during your stay at Valfréjus. Free access (equipment required) or with professional supervision.
To get to the start of the Grand Vallon via ferrata, meet at the Charmasson chairlift (access by car or hike), then park 50 m above it. After the small wooden bridge, turn left and descend 350m.

Resting along the streams

Discover the new aqualudic area located near the Charmaix stream, in a forested area, and enjoy the freshness of the water playground at Valfréjus. Picnic area, children's games, museum panels and, of course, the chance to get your feet wet.
In the mountain pastures, lie back and admire wild orchids such as the vanilla orchid, listen to the whistling of the marmots, contemplate the peaks and glaciers of the Vanoise National Park... Recharge your batteries and enjoy the great natural and unspoilt spaces of Valfréjus.
